About Thomas
Born in New England, Thomas (Tom) Graves attended high school in Indiana, and graduated from Oberlin College and the Oberlin Conservatory in 2000. Tom holds a Bachelor of Music and a Bachelor of Arts from Oberlin, and earned his Juris Doctor from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, in San Francisco. An avid reader, hiker, and cross-country skier, Tom lives with his wife and two sons in Northeast Portland, Oregon.
Experience and Focus
Tom Graves has helped families and individuals in a variety of estate planning, probate, and trust administration matters, including the preparation and execution of wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advance health care directives. He has also assisted individuals as they work to fulfill their fiduciary responsibilities, whether as a trustee, personal representative, or agent under power of attorney.
In representing small and family businesses, Mr. Graves has guided clients through the formation, development, succession, and sale of their businesses. In addition to advising business clients generally with respect to developing and protecting their intellectual property rights, he has shepherded a variety of trade and service marks through the USPTO federal trademark registration process.
Mr. Graves was admitted to the Oregon State Bar in 2005, and the Washington State Bar in 2014.
Tom Graves practices primarily in the areas of estate planning, trust administration, and probate matters. Tom also works with closely held and family businesses on intellectual property, business formation, and business succession matters, with a particular focus on the registration and protection of trademarks and service marks.
